Laura woke up to find herself handcuffed to the bed. And, worst of all, there was someone next to her - touching her. She groaned and attempted to see who it was.
"Joey?" She gasped. "But, aren't you, aren't you..."
"Dead? No. And I must say I sure am glad to have you back. Even if you did betray us."
There was a groan.
"Ahh, I see our other visitor is up. Or, rather, our only visitor. You, gorgeous, made a one-way trip."
Laura looked around, and sure enough, there was Taylor, tied to a chair. Then someone knocked on the door.
"What?" Joey demanded impatiently.
He spoke quickly, although too quietly for Laura to make out what was said, then Joey followed him out the door.
"Who's he?" Taylor asked. "What's going on? And why are you half naked?"
"Have a nice view?" Laura asked nervously.
Taylor gave her a look. She sighed.
"Joey... Joey's my ex-boyfriend. Well, kinda. See ahh... Ok, you know the movie Eraser?"
"Yeah."
"You know how the civilian woman - I've forgotten the name - went to the FBI about her suspicions and they organised it so that she ahh, infiltrate and get proof?"
"Yeah."
"Ok - and if anyone asks, I never told you this - I'm kinda like that woman. See, when Joey and I were dating I suspected he was involved in, err, lets just call it organised crime. And, well, you know me, is it so hard to believe I went to the FBI? As it turned out it was the first major lead they had on this case, so they got me to infiltrate. Unfortunately, went they came to do the big arrest, something went wrong. Most of them died, including some of the FBI agents. Very few escaped and of the four that were arrested, only two were alive a week later."
Taylor whistled.
"I thought Joey died, but I guess, a few of them did escape. But still, I never expected to see him again."
Laura sighed.
'I'm really sorry Taylor. It's my fault you're in this mess. See, Alex was one of the FBI agents I had encountered during that time. When they came to visit, he told me that there was a chance this whole ransom thing was just a ruse to get me."
"And make a bit of money on the side huh?"
"Well, you know, where's the best place to hide a kidnapping? In a series of kidnappings."
Taylor nodded thoughtfully.
"I've still got the -"
"Yeah I know. I've one too."
