Chapter 5

It wasn't until the Hanson's resumed their tour that Taylor finally got enough nerve to check his e-mail for Moira's reply:

Who, U? A horrible person? No, I don't think U R horrible at all (well, other than the name-calling *grin*)
People react differently when people die. It depends on UR personality, UR relationship with that person, current circumstances, all sort of things. It could be that it just hasn't clicked yet that UR friend has died. It's one thing to say "he's dead" it's another to comprehend that.
I'm sorry for UR loss. I hope that his wife is ok.

Relief seemed to flood through his body. He started writing his reply. Partway through, he could hear voices nearby:

"I just don't understand what his problem is." Isaac was saying. "And I think he's getting a little too obsessed with that Moira person."

"Yeah, well, at least when he's talking about Moira he isn't moping around like he does the rest of the time." Zac replied.

"Maybe so, but I don't think harping on about some chick online is healthy."

"Oh? And letting your girlfriend get away with cheating on you is?"

"Lizzie is not cheating on me Zac."

"Uh huh, yeah sure. Everyone knows she is Ike. Everyone, but you, and you won't believe anyone no matter how hard we try to tell you."

"Look, the point is, I think we should do something about Tay. He's becoming a fruit loop, and I'm really worried."

Zac sighed.

"Yeah, I know. I'm worried about him too."

Taylor tuned them out again. Worried about him? Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. One thing was for certain; they never even tried to help him before... before...

He reread what he had written so far, and then continued:

U know what I really like about music? It's the only release I seem to have in this stupid world. When you're playing you just forget about everything else and everyone else. And what ppl say about you when they think you're not listening.
Do you have a release Moira? Is there a way for you to escape this place?

Taylor paused. He'd never given so much away about himself before. He'd never said this much to anyone. He wrote some more. Then, on the spur of the moment, he wrote:

P.S. I'm on anti-depressants because I've tried to kill myself 4 times (that they know about)

Taylor pressed 'send' before he could change him mind and delete the sentence.
