"Just a sec." He said to Belinda, then picked it up. "Hello?"
"Ike?" A voice gasped.
"Mel? Mel are you ok?"
"The baby..." she groaned.
"The baby - are you in labour?"
It didn't take long to determine that's exactly what it was.
"Don't worry, I'll be right there." Isaac looked at Belinda. "You know Mel don't you?"
Belinda nodded, having heard Isaac's half of the conversation.
"Yeah. We'd better go."
It wasn't long before they had arrived at Mel's home.
"Mel?" Isaac called. "Hey, we're here."
"We're?" Mel repeated.
"I'm here too."
"Oh, hi Belinda."
"C'mon, we'll get you to the hospital." Isaac said, helping her up off the lounge.
A few minutes later they arrived at the hospital and Mel was rushed into the maternity ward. Isaac and Belinda were left to wait outside.
"I can believe I'm so nervous." Isaac said suddenly. "It's not like it's my kid."
Belinda smiled.
A few moments later, Isaac got up.
"Where are you going?" Belinda asked.
"It just occurred to me I should call Mel's parents."
"Good idea."
Just before Mel's parents arrived, one of the nurses came out.
"You brought Mel here?" she inquired.
"Yeah - is she ok?" Isaac asked.
"Yes Mel is fine, and so the baby."
"What is i - the baby?" Belinda asked.
"A beautiful baby boy."
