Chapter 26

"I felt like someone had stabbed me through the heart." Taylor told Moira, wiping a few stray tears from his eyes.

"How could she say that to you?" Moira asked, obviously touched.

That appeared to be too much for Taylor and he started crying. Moira hugged him and let him cry into her shoulder.

"I'm sure she didn't mean it Tay."

"Yes she did." Tay wept. "She meant every word. How could I even think that anyone as wonderful as Wendy could ever love me?"

"If Wendy was so wonderful why did she act like that? I'll tell you why Taylor. It's because she's human. And no one is perfect."

Taylor didn't answer for a few minutes. Just as Isaac and Zac were beginning to think their brother had cried himself to sleep (and they were absolutely amazed at what they were hearing), Taylor spoke up.

"I ran from there Moira. I ran to, to, to somewhere I didn't know where. There was a bridge and I... I would have jumped over the side of it too, but some Japanese guy stopped me."

"Whoa there boy." He said, taking hold of Taylor. "I don't know what your problem is but I can tell you right now that suicide is not the answer."

"How would you know!" Taylor cried out. "You don't have my life!"

"You only live once."

~FLASH~

"He's right of course. We sing about that often enough." Taylor sniffed thoughtfully. "And I know I thought about that briefly on the way home, but it wasn't enough. I walked right through the front door and headed straight to the kitchen, pulled out a knife and was about two inches away from slitting my wrist when Dad grabbed my arm."

He ran his tear-soaked hands through his hair.

"My therapy sessions increased after that, but my only refuge was in music."

"Yeah, you've told me that before."

"Janine was the one who suggested that we go back on tour. She thought it might help. We've been having these over-the-phone therapy sessions and stuff, but I still tell her as much as I usually do - which is a grand total of ziltch. My life is none of her business."

Moira held his hand and nodded.

"I don't know - I guess it helped a little. But then... I just couldn't take it any more Moira. Y'know, I was about to jump off a hotel balcony when..." and a smile started appearing on his face. "When my computer informed me I had mail. And for some reason I actually went over and read it... and it was from you. And I swear Moira... if I hadn't gotten that e-mail I'd be... well, I'd be a human pancake by now."

As Moira wiped a tear from her own eye and kissed Taylor's cheek, Isaac and Zac stared incredulously at Taylor and each other.
