"I don't know."
"My goodness Ike, I cannot believe you would even think such a thing!"
"I can't believe you would give me reason to." Isaac retorted. "The least you could do is be discrete. I've had people telling me for months - months - about your antics."
"Oh, I see, you would trust everyone else's word over mine."
"In some cases I am more inclined to believe your word over theirs. But too many of my good, good friends have said things. Friends that I know would never lie to me, especially never about such a thing."
Isaac was quiet for a moment.
"Maybe that's why you're not in the loop Lizzie. No one trusts you anymore."
"Not even you it seems. I can't believe this. Everyone's ganging up on me."
"Ganging up on you?" Isaac repeated. "If you ask me you brought it on yourself. Do these names sound familiar? Jake Barasser, Ryan Matthews, Thomas Schwacher, Pierre Green, Jack Kerringer, Brendon McDonald... do I have to continue?"
Isaac looked like he was about to cry.
"Fine." She replied tersely. "I was cheating on you. Happy now? I was cheating on you! But you're never around and damn it Ike, like you haven't been cheating on me."
Isaac stared at her in horror.
"Cheating on you? Don't judge people as yourself Lizzie."
"Oh, what a convenient excuse. Do you honestly expect me to believe you haven't? That you don't get it on with all those girls that fawn over you in ever city you go? That Mel's baby isn't yours?"
"Mel's baby?" he repeated. "Of course it's not mine! It's David's."
"Sure it is."
"Hey, I wouldn't cheat on anyone, and I certainly would never have an affair! Least of all with Mel. David was one of my best friends. I was their Best Man at the wedding... I can't believe the idea would cross your mind... no actually I can believe it. Obviously you are not the person I thought I knew."
Lizzie glowered at him.
"Honestly Isaac, I don't know what I ever saw in you. All I see is a two-timing, stuck-up, arrogant jerk."
"Maybe you should stop looking in the mirror."
She slapped him. A smirk appeared on Isaac's face and he wagged a finger at her.
"Y'know, restoring to violence like that is just admitting you've lost."
"Excuse me? Hey, you come back here, I haven't -"
"Good bye Lizzie, I hope I never have to see you again."
And Isaac left.
