"You're just obsessed with kazoos, aren't you, Fred?" Taylor said in disgust.
"Here," Zac said helpfully. "Try my sword."
Fred's eyes widened in alarm.
"Why, thanks," said the brigand leader.
"Umm, excuse me? What do you think you're doing, Zac?"
"Who said that?" demanded the brigand leader.
"It's just The Narrator. She's a bit of a pest if you ask me," Zac replied.
"Answer my question, Zac. What do you think you're doing?"
"If you're so great. If you created me and all that, then you should already know what I think I'm doing."
"I see. You're trying to play that game are you? Well, I was going to allow you the privlage of unburdoning your conscience and admitting that you deliberately tried to sabotage my story by killing the main character without my express permission -"
"What do you mean, Fred's the main character?" Isaac demanded, horrified.
"Yeah! Everyone knows I'm the lead," Taylor agreed.
"Please," Isaac scoffed the same time that Zac said "Over my dead body."
"Oh, believe me Zac. That can be arranged."
"Oooh I'm soooo scared," Zac said sarcasictally. "I'm trembling in my shoes."
It was at that point that Princess Joy reappeared.
"Tsk, tsk," she said, wagging her finger. "You! Brigands!"
The brigands turned to her. This whole thing was rather unnerving. Princess Joy waved her staff, and the whole lot of them were transformed into birds.
"There," she said happily. "Come on Fred. You're coming with me."
Fred stood up gratefully.
"What do you mean he's coming with you?" Zac demanded.
"I'm getting him away from your evil clutches is what," Princess Joy replied. "How dare you try to hurt Fred. I hope the Narrator does something horrible, nasty and sadistic to you as punishment. Bad boy."
She waved her staff again and a beautiful, pure white winged unicorn landed softly next to her.
"Isn't she beautiful?" Princess Joy sighed. "Come Fred, let's go."
Princess Joy climbed onto the back of the winged unicorn, pulled Fred on behind her and the two flew off.
