"I tell you what, I'll even let you break." Libby said 'generously'.
"Thanks."
It was a pretty damn good break. Best one they'd seen Deanna do yet. Isaac whistled.
"Sunk one already." He commented.
Deanna smiled.
"So go again." Libby said dryly.
They were all astonished went she knock another one in… and another.
"Your go Libby." Deanna said smugly.
Libby gave her a look, and raised her eyebrow. Then she took the cue, and made her shot. Hit the ball, but missed the hole.
Deanna's turn. Same thing.
Libby knocked one in. Then missed the hole on her second shot.
Deanna did the same thing.
Libby missed.
Deanna knocked her fifth ball in.
"Hmm, five of mine down, and you've still got, what? Six?" Deanna asked innocently.
Libby just glowered at Deanna as she made her next shot. Again, hit the ball but missed the hole.
Libby knocked her second one in, and then a third, but missed the hole.
Deanna knocked in her sixth.
Libby missed.
Deanna knocked in her last.
"Ooh look who's up to the eight ball?" Deanna smirked. "Me."
"Shut up." Libby replied in frustration.
Deanna just smiled.
Libby missed.
Deanna missed.
Libby knocked in her fourth.
Deanna knocked in the eight ball. She smiled at Libby.
"I believe you owe me five hundred big ones Libby."
Libby glared at her.
"I don't suppose you're gonna let me have a chance to win my money back?"
"Oh sure." Deanna replied sweetly. "I could do that. But it'll cost ya."
There was a pause.
"How much?"
"Oh, say, a grand to the winner."
Libby was silent.
"I'll get you the money next time I have access to an ATM. I know how to cut my losses."
Libby sat back in her seat and put her book up to her face. Isaac, of course, being chained to her, was forced to follow. But he sat on his seat and joined in the conversation.
"You're a pool shark?" Zac asked, impressed.
"Sure I am." Deanna replied. "What? Surely you don't think I'm stupid enough to gamble money if I have no chance of winning do you?"
