"It's pretty. I like that one!"
"Excuse me? Can I help you?" the sales assistant asked.
"Oh hi." Zac replied. "My daughter and I are just looking at engagement rings."
"Ooh!" Hope said suddenly. "That's a pretty one!"
The assistant - her name tag said Kara - smiled.
"Say, you're Zac Hanson aren't you?" she asked.
"Yeah, that's me."
"We have some other rings over here."
Kara showed him over to the other display.
"Wow." Hope murmured.
"Wow indeed." Zac commented with a wry smile.
Oh he knew what game Kara was playing. She knew who he was and figured he was loaded. So naturally she shows him the expensive stuff. Typical.
It wasn't that Zac didn't want to spend a lot of money, it was more Kara's sheer audacity.
"I like that one." Hope said.
"Mmm... I don't think she really likes the chunky stuff. She's not into jewelry." Zac's instincts were telling him that mentioning Kelsey's name was probably a bad idea.
"Perhaps something smaller?" Kara suggested. "What about this one?"
'That's smaller?' Zac found himself thinking.
Hope noticed the look on Zac's face and, unnoticed, wandered back over to the previous display.
"I don't know." Zac said. "Like I said, she's not into chunky stuff. It's not really her style. And I can't say it's mine either."
Kara was about to reply when Hope cut in.
"Dad?"
"Yeah Hope?"
"Do you think Kel-Kel will like this one?"
Zac walked over and looked at the one that Hope was pointing to.
"Y'know something? I bet she'll love it."
Hope was all smiles.
"I'll get this one." He said pointedly to Kara.
"Sure thing." She replied cheerfully.
