Zac grinned at her. Kelsey had finally come to LA. Right now she had opened up one of the cupboards in the apartment and was peering inside.
"Oh, just stuff that's kinda accumulated over the years." Zac replied.
"That be right. Like, when was the last time any one cleared this joint out?"
Zac shrugged.
"Usually when we come here it's to work on more important things like albums and movies."
"Avie's like, always here. You'd think she'd -"
"Get real." Avie cut in. "I, like everyone who lives here, only does enough cleaning to stay healthy. Besides, most of the stuff in there belongs to people other than me."
Kelsey looked like she was going to say something more, but Zac cut in.
"What the - oh my gosh!" he exclaimed, reaching an arm in.
"What?" Kelsey asked.
"Oh my gosh! Avie! Do you realise what this is?" his eye were glowing with excitement.
Avie gave him a weird look.
"It's a photo album."
"Not just any photo album! This has all the photos Cassie and I took from when we got married until she... until she died. I hadn't seen it in years - I thought it was in the house when the tornado hit."
Then Zac started bounding down the stairs into the dining room where Hope was doing some drawing. Avie and Kelsey followed.
"Hey Hope! Wanna see some photos of your mom?"
Hope looked interested.
"My real mom?"
"That be her." Zac triumphantly placed the album down on the table. "Ok, see that picture there? That place is where Cassie and me got married. And that there is Cassie - your mom."
"She's pretty."
"Just like you."
Hope smiled.
"Why are you dressed like that?"
"Oh, umm, well, this place we went in Las Vegas? Well, you can... dress up differently when you get married. We saw a couple there get married in Star Trek uniforms, and another couple were serial killers. It was cool."
"So... what are you and, umm, Mom supposed to be?"
"Spaniards - people from Spain."
"Ok. What's happening in that picture?"
Kelsey had to smile as she watched Zac and Hope go through the photos. She was very happy for Zac - that he'd been able to reopen such a treasure of memories.
At the same time she felt a little sad too.
