Chapter 82

Some time later, Zac was back in the studio with Hope. Hope was in with her tutor, while Zac (as co-director and star of the movie, amongst other things) was preparing for the next scene.

Well, sort of. He was waiting on other people to get moving. Besides, he had been trying to call Mackie with no avail.

At least, no until now...

"Sarah tells me you're going off to college." He commented.

"Yeah, that's the plan."

"Cool. She ahh, she's suggested I take your place while you off studying."

"Really?" Mackie paused. "Does Zoe know?"

"Nah. And I asked Sarah not to mention it to her yet."

"Good idea."

"Look, umm, Mackie, I have to know - and I'm asking this as your brother and someone who is concerned for the band, not as a representative of the label - is this, ahh, departure permanent?"

Mackie was quiet for a moment.

"I honestly don't know. I feel like I've been going crazy the last couple of years. Especially with what happened with Oliver."

"I can understand that."

"Yeah, but... Zac I don't know if this - being the band - is what I want to do with my life y'know? I just need some time away, to clear my head and get a new perspective."

"I know what you're saying man. Now that... now that Hanson is, ahh, off on a break - a long one - I've been trying to figure out what to do with myself."

"Well, at least you have the movie to keep yourself busy. And maybe even my place in the band." Mackie teased.

"I don't know man... I would only be there while you're not. That's why I need to know what your plans are Mackie. There's no point in telling Zoe and Sarah you'll be back if you definitely know you won't. And I refuse to be a permanent member. It's your band."

"Yeah, I know." Mackie sighed. "I really am planning on coming back Zac, believe me. I just need some fresh air, so to speak."

"Sure, sure. Ok. Say, Avie's here, did you want to talk to her?"

"Avie? She's there? You got her a part in the movie too?"

"Heck yeah! She's the only member of our family I haven't worked with yet. Couldn't give up the opportunity."

Mackie laughed.

"Hey cool. Yeah, I will. It's been ages since we've spoken."

"Ok, I'll just get her." Zac moved the phone from his face. "Yo! Avie! Mackie's on the phone!"

Avie looked up.

"Really?"

"Yep." Zac replied tossing her the phone.

"Ok, thanks." Avie then started talking into the phone. "Hey Mackie! Long time, no talk."
