"Hi Kel." He said.
"Hey Zac."
"You ok?"
"Oh, well, still in hospital I'm afraid. But nothing critical. Well, other than a cast on my wrist - how weird is that? And, well, my chest hurts a bit. Damn those broken ribs."
Zac laughed.
"Sorry, shouldn't laugh."
"Ahh, don't worry about it."
"How it happen anyway? I know you were in the car accident..."
"Oh, some truck driver claimed he didn't see me on the road. All I can say is, good thing I swerved when I did. Would have been a lot more serious."
"So, ahh, did you get my message?"
"Yeah." Kelsey paused. "Y'know, when dad first came to visit me he tried ordering me around. I told him to rack off. Then when I got your message I was glad when he came back the second time."
"I have a sneaking suspicion I don't want to know what you said to him."
It was Kelsey's turn to laugh.
"Ahh, we never agreed on anything."
There was quiet for a moment.
"Thanks for calling round to make sure I was all right."
"Hey, what are friends for?" Zac felt like he was going to choke on the word 'friends'.
"So, ahh, umm, Peta's tells me you've broken up with Molly."
"Yeah."
"What happened?"
"Oh well, I..."
"It's ok if you don't want to talk about it. I know that breaking up with people can be really hard."
"I, well, uhh... look there's something I really want to tell you -"
"Yes?"
"But not over the phone. I want to tell you to your face."
"Oh, ok." She sounded curious.
A few minutes later they hung up. Zac bit his lip.
