Chapter 48

"Where is it!" Taylor shouted.

"Where is what?" asked Zac.

Zac had noticed, well, that all had noticed, a change in Taylor recently. And no one could explain it. Of course, they hadn't realised that it was the withdrawal from the drugs he had been taking, after all, they didn't even know he had been taking them.

"My painting."

"What painting?"

"The big one I was making of Her!"

"You left it in Tulsa."

"Damn it!" Taylor threw a glass at the wall.

"Taylor!" Diana scolded.

"Sorry." He mumbled.

"Why don't you just start another one?" Isaac suggested diplomatically.

What on earth had gotten into his brother anyway?

"Yeah..."

Taylor stalked off the grab a piece of paper, a pencil and a rubber. They all looked at each other worriedly.

Zac watched Taylor as he started on the new portrait. There was something about the look on his face. It was very passionate towards Her it seemed, which was odd considering his attitude towards Her these last few months. And strangely enough, it was the most peaceful he had been the last few of days.

Much later that day, Taylor had a piece of the broken glass in his hand that he had swiped from the rubbish. He slipped into the bathroom and locked the door.

"I, I can't do this." He whimpered.

He stared at the piece of glass, then closed his eyes. He put the glass to his wrist. Just as he was going to apply the pressure, She passed through his mind.

"Damn it!" he cried. "Why do you care?"

Taylor unlocked the door and flung it open. He threw the piece of glass across the room and it landed right in the middle of the portrait.

"No." He half-sobbed, rushing over to it. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please don't be mad."

The older members of his family watched Taylor curiously as he seemed to actually caress the picture. Tears running down his eyes.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. It was an accident I promise. I'm sorry."

"Tay?" asked Diana.

Taylor ignored her. He just sobbed, begged and caressed the picture until he fell asleep.
