"What that..." he said.
"Isaac!" Zac exclaimed as he threw him against the wall.
"So, Zac, you know how we've been wondering when Jess got so clumsy?"
"Yeah..."
"Seems she had an abusive boyfriend."
There was obvious fear in Marks' eyes as he stared up at the stone cold glare from Isaac and the look of horrified fury appearing on Zacs'. Was it no wonder? Isaacs' fist slammed into Marks' face. His nose immediately began to bleed.
"What about Cassie, Mark?" Zac shouted. "Why'd ya come after my sister?"
Mark said nothing. He just kept his hand to his nose, trying to stop the bleeding.
"It's because Cassie's got the sense not to sleep with you huh Mark?" Isaac accused.
"Sleep with him!" Zac exploded, his eyes wide. "Jess isn't, she isn't, she can't be..."
Isaac picked Mark up off the floor and pinned him against the wall.
"Yes she is." He replied. "And when she told me, she said that Marky-boy here was making her abort it. She had a coat hanger."
"You, you," Zac spluttered.
And then it was Zacs' fists' turn to meet with Mark's face. Isaac stared hauling him to the door.
"She's with Mom at the moment. Crying her eyes out." Isaac added.
They got to the door, and it was not without some satisfaction that they threw him out of the house and onto the lawn.
"If ya ever come back, we'll pound ya into dust!" Zac yelled.
Mark knew better than to mess with the Hanson brothers. He ran. He pelted down the street, Isaac and Zac watching him until he disappeared from site. It would be a cold day in Hell before Mark ever returned to that house.
"I'm gonna ring Cassie." Zac told Isaac. "I think she more than deserves to know about this."
Isaac nodded.
"I'll be with Mom and Jess."
**********
Isaac looked up as Zac returned from the phone call.
"How'd she take it?" He asked.
"She wasn't home. But I think I'll go over a little later and tell her personally."
"Tell who - who?" sniffed Jess.
"Cassie."
Jess opened her mouth as if to protest, then closed it.
"Look, Jess, I don't think Cassie will blame you. She might be a little upset, but, well, you know Cassie." Zac put in sympathetically.
Jess nodded.
