Chapter 36

Some weeks later they were working on the plans for the upcoming promo tour. Only days ago they had finished the editing for the video clips for 'If Only' and 'This Time Around'. The album was complete.

"I'm gonna go get a drink." Taylor said at one stage. "Anyone else want something?"

"I'll have a Dr Pepper." Isaac replied.

"Beer." Zac answered seriously.

Everyone stared at him. Zac grinned.

"Joking!" He exulted. "I'll have a Dr Pepper too."

A few others put in orders too, and Taylor went to the kitchen wondering if he had bitten off more than he could chew. Still, he remembered that there was a tray in the kitchen and figured he could use that.

After he pulled the drinks out, Taylor reached for the tray that was sitting on top of the cabinet. What he didn't realise was that there was a vase sitting on top of it, and when he pulled at the tray...

"What was that?" Walker asked, looking towards the kitchen.

"I'll go see." Zac offered.

A moment later he hurried back from the kitchen.

"Dad?" He said, a note of panic in his voice. "I think Tays' unconscious."

Walker was off like a shot. Sure enough, Taylor was lying down almost pathetically, and out like a light.

**********

There She was In a club full of people. She was singing. Taylor wished he could hear Her - She certainly received an enthusiatic applause.

She was smiling. A beautiful, sweet, genuine smile. He found himself staring at Her. Those eyes, those lips.

"No!" He screamed. "Stop doing this to me! Leave me alone!"

Taylor woke up, shooting to a sitting position. His eyes were wide, he was gasping for breath and was in a cold sweat.

"Taylor?" Walker asked.

He grabbed at his fathers' shirt and pulled him close.

"Please, I can't take it any longer." He begged. "Get rid of Her Dad. Please, get rid of her."

The tears started streaming down his face. He couldn't even feel the vague lump forming on his head. Walker drew him into a hug.

Isaac watched, for once hoping he wouldn't be sent to a shrink. He could see the headlines now. No, it wouldn't do for the public to get the idea that his 17 year old brother was mentally unstable. He knew that their criticisers would have a field day on that. Which may only make things worse.
