Chapter 31

Taylor wasn't the only one to have a birthday in LA that year. Yes, today was Zac's long awaited 14th birthday. And it might be a good idea to add that Zac had no intention of letting the celebrations stop with family.

After breaky, they headed down to the beach for a surf. Of course, Ike, Taylor and Zac had another item on the agenda 'pick up chicks'. For, as we know, Ike and Taylor were free and single and Zac's a total player, so a little cheating wouldn't bother him!

"Noooo." Zac said. "That's stupid."

"Oh?" came Taylor. "And what makes you the king of dating?"

"I have 41 reasons," Zac replied smugly. "and their names are -"

"No! I don't wanna know." Taylor cut in. "I stand corrected."

"No, I do wanna know." Isaac said with a grin. "I bet you can't even remember all their names."

Zac poked his tongue out at him.

"Let the master show you how it's done." He said, changing the subject back.

Taylor and Isaac his smiles and tried to stop themselves from laughing as their brother swaggered over to a girl sun bathing on the beach. They nearly succeeded but then they saw her slap him.

"It's not that funny." Zac said upon his return.

"What did you say to her?" Isaac asked in between giggles.

"We-ell, 'Freak' told me some pick up lines... and some of them were kinda perverted."

"That one was perverted wasn't it?" Taylor asked, his eyes lighting up.

"Umm, yep." Zac nodded gleefully. "I just wanted to see if it would work..."

"Pick up lines never work." Isaac said.

Zac shrugged.

"C'mon, let's hit the waves!"

And on that they picked up their boards again and surfed.

Much later. Much, much later, our birthday boy snuck out of the house and to another one of Moniques' wild parties.

Zac spent the next couple of hours groping. But then, so what else is new? It wasn't as if he did anything else at these things. Besides, he liked playing games with the drunken girls - Zac and his little games, dear, dear, dear.

Well, actually, come to think of it, there was something new...

"The punch must have been spiked." Zac gasped to his brothers when he got home late that night.

They were in the bathroom, holding him over the bowl while he puked his guts out. They had heard him come in that night since he had been drunk enough to not be as careful about making noise.

"See? This is why you shouldn't go to these things." Isaac scolded.

"Oh, leave him alone." Taylor put in. "He's knows better now."

"How much did you drink?" Isaac asked a little later.

"Well, they never spiked the punch before. And I was -"

"I'm guessing the next word was supposed to be 'thirsty'." Taylor commented dryly as Zac threw up again.

**********

Naturally Isaac and Taylor did not inform their parents of Zac's late night adventure. It was suggested that the reason for Zac's exhaustion and incredible headache the next morning were the result of a bug picked up off the beach. Diana and Walker seemed to accept this explanation, and Zac promised his brothers he wouldn't go to another one of Moniques' parties again. This was reinforced by his dumping her, to which Zac's only complaint was 'damn, back to 40'.
