Morgan and Paul were enjoying a nice dinner together. Paul seemed somewhat nervous about something.
“Morgan,” he said at last. “There’s something I have to tell you.”
“Yeah?”
“Well, I’ve been offered a new contract. It’s really awesome, Morgan. This is ten times better than what I expected for my next contract.”
“Really? That’s great.”
“Yeah, and one of the things is the apartment of my choice - it can even be a penthouse.”
Morgan regarded him for a moment.
“You’re moving?”
He nodded slowly.
“Yeah… to New York.”
“New York?”
“That's where they want me.”
“New York.”
“Yeah. I’ve already accepted -”
“Well, it sounds great, I wouldn’t expect you not to.”
Paul took her hand.
“Morgan, I… I want you to move in with me.”
“Move in?” she asked, stunned. “I… ahh…”
Paul put a finger to her lips.
“I know it’s a huge decision. Just think about it, okay?”
Morgan let out a breath.
“Okay.”

A couple of nights later, Caroline saw Morgan leaning over the dining table and crying.
“Morgan? What’s wrong?”
Morgan looked up slowly.
“Me and Paul broke up.”
“Oh no. Over his moving to New York?”
“Kinda. He wanted me to come with him.”
“Oh?”
“I don’t wanna leave,” Morgan said, going into another round of tears. “I’m working on too many projects and… and… and I don’t know if I’m ready to move in with my boyfriend just yet.”
“You guys have been living together for -”
“Yeah, I know that. But it’s different. You guys live here too! This would be different. And I don’t know anyone in New York! Paul understood, but there was no way… I mean, I couldn’t have a relationship with someone on the other side of the country. It just…”
Caroline comforted her friend as she burst into tears again.
