“Good morning,” he said. “MTV I presume.”
“Yes,” a woman, Cathy, answered.
“We’ve been expecting you. Come in.”
That day, MTV was sending crews to Isaac’s house, Taylor’s, Zac’s and where Sarah was on her tour with Dinomight. They were doing a ‘A day in the life of the Hansons’ four-part special. Only Mackie and his family wouldn’t have a camera crew – as none of their members were in the spotlight (any more, in Mackie’s case) MTV wasn’t interested. None of them minded.
“This is… some room,” Cathy said, looking around in the foyer.
“There are very few people up at the moment,” Jack informed them. “I have been asked to give you a tour of the house.”
Jack escorted them around. He mentioned when certain extensions were done (three in all, the third floor and the original downstairs bedroom, the music wing, and finally the art room and gym), which rooms they were allowed to enter and other such things. The tour ended in the dining room, and Isaac put down the newspaper as they came in.
“Welcome to our humble abode,” he grinned. “Have a seat – the kids should be starting to come down for breakfast. The two boys setting the table are Duke and Matt.”
Isaac introduced their other kids, Lori, Natalie and Babsie as they all arrived in the dining room. Babsie, after her introduction and sitting down, noticed a particular look on Xavier’s face as he looked at the camera.
“Xavier, don’t you dare,” she warned.
“Dare what?”
“Dare do whatever it is you’re planning on doing.”
“Aww man.”
The rest of breakfast went on without further incident, which the exception of Cyke teasing Wolvie with an egg, which resulted in the ten-year-old racing to the nearest corner, with his arms wrapped around his head.
“Cyke, how many times do we have to tell you not to do that?” Isaac frowned.
“Sorry,” he muttered.
Isaac picked up Wolverine and carried him out of the room.
“Wolvie’s scared of eggs,” Lockie told Cathy. “We don’t know why, and certain people like to tease him.”
Lockie gave her twin brother a pointed look. Cyke just grinned ruefully.
After breakfast, the older kids and Mystique, bar Xavier, Rogue and Storm, got ready for and left for school. Cathy asked them how come they weren’t going to school too.
“I’ve finished school,” Xavier grinned. “Nanny nanny nah nah.”
“We’re being home schooled, on account of having -” Storm began.
“- recorded an album and touring and stuff,” Rogue finished.
The day went surprisingly smoothly, although the camera crew managed to distract the younger kids during their lessons.
An hour or so after they came home from school, Tobias and Cosmo got the dogs ready for their walk.
“Now this great big fur ball here is Fuzzy,” Cosmo grinned. “An apt name. Tobe is putting a leash on Woofy, and the gentle dog holding her leash in her mouth is Fang.”
“Woofy was going to be Fang, and Fang was going to be Woofy, because Fang’s a girl and Woofy is a boy, but Fang likes to chew stuff, and Woofy likes to bark,” Tobias informed them. “He gets very noisy sometimes.”
“Outta the driveway dudes,” Xavier said, followed by Libby and Joy. “I’m driving these two to their… which class was it? Figure skating or gymnastics?”
“Skating,” they answered, getting into the car.
They returned home about half an hour before dinner. Esme and Carmen has set up the dining room for dinner and helped Lori prepare the food
When Cathy and her camera crew left, almost everyone was snug in their beds and fast asleep.
