Kelsey held out a hand to her opponent.
"Pay up," she demanded.
The rather ugly fellow growled just as attractively, but forked over the money. Kelsey smiled sweetly.
"Thank you."
He snarled and walked away. Zac shook his head.
"Kel..." but said no more.
"What?"
He laughed a little.
"You have a most interesting hobby."
"Why, thank you. Wanna game?"
"Friendly?"
"Scared I might beat you?"
"No. I just wouldn't want money to get between our relationship."
Kelsey laughed.
"Okay," she agreed.
Zac chalked up his cue while Kelsey set up the balls. Then Zac broke as Kelsey chalked her cue.
"Nah-nah, I got one in, I go again," he teased.
Kelsey responded by blowing the excess chalk from her cue. Zac sunk another ball, and then it was Kelsey's turn. It was a relatively fast game, as both were good and experienced players. But both knew neither was playing their best. A shark's tactic, or habit.
Kelsey kicked his butt.
Zac shrugged and smiled as he put away his cue. A guy who had been watching sidled up to Kelsey.
"Hey babe," he cooed, putting his arm around her. "How's about you and me have a little game."
Zac raised an eyebrow, not looking at all pleased. His and Kelsey's eyes met as she pulled the guy's arm off her.
"Rack off," she told him.
"Aww, c'mon, girl..."
"Leave me alone, or I'll throw you out."
"You can't do that."
"Can't I? I run this joint."
Zac decided to step in.
"C'mon Kel," he said, extending his elbow. "Let's blow this popsicle stand."
"Aww, can't I have security kick him out first?"
"I didn't do nuffin'!"
"Maybe we should," Zac said pointedly. "Trying to pick up my wife like that."
Kelsey giggled at the expression on the stranger's face.
