At any rate, it was organised that Zac would be free for working on the new album after lunch, so that was the plan.
"Ready to go Zac?" Taylor asked rhetorically.
"You betcha! If I never look at another maths question again, it'll be too soon. Way too soon."
"I thought you liked maths."
"Not any more."
Isaac and Taylor grinned at each other as they headed to the music room. On the way, they started hearing something...
"Who's playing our instruments?" Taylor questions, wincing slightly as he noted (pun intended) a bad chord.
Isaac had a pretty good idea who.
"I don't recognise the song." He said. "Let's listen at the door."
The others agreed. As they approached the door, they started hearing voices (no, not those type of voices).
"That's Zoe." Zac whispered proudly. "I know her voice anywhere."
"Probably because of all the time you spend corrupting her." Taylor retorted.
"That's not a bad little song they have going." Isaac commented. "I bet Mackies' in there too."
Softly, they opened the door a crack. Sure enough, Zoe was jamming away on one of the keyboards and Mackie was having an, err, interesting time pounding the drums. Suddenly, Zoe stopped and covered her ears as Mackie went into a little drum solo.
"Quit doing that!" she complained. "That's not how the song goes!"
Mackie stopped, folded his arms and glared at her.
"Yes it is."
"No it's not!"
"Is."
"Not."
Isaac couldn't help it. It sounded just like the other day when he walked in on them. He burst out laughing. Mackie and Zoe looked over at the amused eavesdroppers guiltily.
"Umm, hi?" Zoe said.
"You know, you guys shouldn't really be here..." Taylor began.
"I'm sorry!"
"Hey, it's ok. We're not mad at you. Why don't you play us that song you're working on? Maybe we can help."
"No!" Zoe cried. "We don't want your help. We wanna write it all by ourselves."
"Ok, we won't help. Will you still play it for us?"
Zoe and Mackie looked at each other.
"Ok." Mackie said. "But you're not allowed to help."
Of course, the song came to an abrupt halt when they came to the drum solo, and once again, they started fighting about it. The guys laughed, realising this must be exactly how they sound when they have their own musical arguments.
"You know, I think you guys really need a guitar player." Taylor commented. "Maybe you'll be able to talk Sarah into joining you sometime. Or Marie."
Zac and Isaac nodded.
"And hey, you never know, maybe one day you'll get to open for us." Zac suggested. "How cool would that be."
"That would be awesome dude!" Zoe replied happily.
