Chapter 73

"Let me get this straight, you actually get along with my Aunt and Uncle?" Babsie asked incredulously.

Avie had recently returned from Australia. The second season of the sitcom was finished.

"Umm, yeah." Avie replied slowly.

"My Aunt and Uncle, as in Ritas' parents."

"Yeah."

Babsie gaped at her.

"Why is that so hard to believe?" Isaac asked.

"Duh, because they're my Aunt and Uncle." Babsie glanced at Avie suspiciously. "Is this some demented prank or weird joke you're trying to pull on me?"

Avie giggled.

"No. I really mean it. We've been getting along pretty much ever since I first started singing there. Well, if you forget the first few nights. But, yeah, Mary reckons that I'm kinda their new favourite performer, because since I started they haven't had so many fi - oops."

"Ah ha! I knew there was a catch." Babsie said smugly. "So, financial problems huh? Don't worry Avie, I've known they've had problems for ages."

"You did?"

"Yeah, c'mon, everyone who worked there knows it, even though Mr and Mrs Masters won't ever admit it aloud. They're too proud."

"Well, obviously they're not if they accepted Avie." Rita pointed out quietly. "If they were too proud, they wouldn't have even considered the idea. I'm glad you're getting along Avie."

"Hmph, well, don't let them push you around."

"Ok Babsie." Avie replied with a smile.

"So, do you think they're any chance for the rest of us?" Taylor asked.

"Not yet I don't think. But I'm working on it."

"Speaking of singing," Zac said. "I - we - listen to the CD. You are awesome Avie."

"Thanks." Avie smiled.

"I especially like that comment you made in that interview I read." He continued.

"What comment was that?"

"Oh, you know, when they asked you about your musical influences and you were like, 'umm my biggest musical influence was Hanson'. And the reply was like 'why's that?' and you said 'well duh, they're my brothers stupid'."

Avie laughed.

"I didn't quite say it like that."

"But I bet you wanted to." Taylor said cheekily.

"Personally, I'm honoured. Your biggest musical influence." Isaac wiped an imaginary tear from his eye.

"Well, it was kinda hard to avoid it after touring with you for so many years."

"So, you hanging around for another season?" Rita asked.

"Oh yeah. I thought you knew, I auditioned for a movie while I was down there. Hopefully I'm gonna get the part." Avie crossed her fingers. "And guys, next time you come down, you have to meet Trey."

"That's your hot boyfriend isn't it?" Jess asked. "I bet he's no where near as hot as Austin."

"Well, considering those mascot suits he runs around in, I'd say that's indisputable." Babsie joked. "I bet he builds up a major sweat."

"Oh, ha ha." Jess retorted. "Charming."
