Chapter 51

About the second week into January, Babsie had disappeared somewhere. Isaac was at home, taking care of his kids and Hope. Rita and Taylor had gone out with their kids and Zac was, well, Isaac wasn't sure where Zac had gone to. Probably visiting Cassies' grave.

There was a knock at the door and Isaac opened it after seeing a rather familiar person outside.

"Hi Alanna, what can I do for you?" he asked.

She smiled shyly at him.

"Umm, hi Ike. How are you doing?"

"I'm good. And you?"

"Good."

There was silence for a moment.

"So, uhh, did you want something?"

She paused, then gazed into his eyes.

"Take me back."

"Excuse me?"

"I was an idiot to let you go, I know. Please, take me back."

"Umm Alanna, this might come as a complete shock to you, but I'm married." He gestured to his wedding ring. "And I have three kids."

"But Ike, she's only a rebound girl."

"Rebound girl? Excuse me? I never got a rebound girl over anyone, let alone you."

"You don't need to sound like that."

"Why? Alanna I never felt for you what I feel for Babsie."

"Who's Babsie?"

"My wife. Duh. Look, unless you have something intelligent to say, I suggest you leave."

Alanna stared at him, open mouthed and wide eyed. Then, to Isaacs' total shock, Alanna wrapped her arms around his neck and locked her lips against his passionately.

"Umm, excuse me?"

Alanna pulled away to see Babsie giving them a severely unimpressed look.

"Hi, I'm Babsie, and you are?"

"My name's Alanna."

"Well, Alanna, I think you should leave."

"Why? I mean, c'mon, it's so obvious that there's something going on between us. Maybe you should pack a bag and go stay with your mommy for a while."

"Babs -"

"My mum is dead." Babsie retorted smoothly. "And now, you can rack off."

The thing with Babsie is that she can have such a don't-mess-with-me-or-you'll-won't-live-to-regret-it thing going when she wants too. Now was one of those times. Alanna stared at her, then slowly backed away, and finally ran off.
