"Hi," Morgan said, smiling at him.
"Hey," Jesse grinned.
"Lucy's on her way down."
"Good. I didn't know you were in LA."
"I thought I told you in my last e-mail."
"Umm, nope."
"Oh. Oops."
"It's okay. Hey, did I tell you I got nominated for an Oscar?"
"Yeah," then she giggled. "Are you that excited you've forgotten who you've told?"
"A little. I'm allowed to bring someone, but uhh, as I know I told you, I just broke up with Dana."
"Who you going to go with then?"
"I don't know. I was thinking of taking Lucy, but I think she'll find it long and boring... would you like to come with me."
Morgan stared.
"What? Me? Really?"
"Sure."
"Uhh... well, sure! Auntie Avie got nominated too, and I was going to watch it on the Tv... but to actually be there... oh my gosh!"
Jesse laughed.
"Cool," he was about to say more when Lucy and Hope came out the door. "Well, I'll talk to you later then."
"Okay. See ya!"
"Bye. C'mon, Lucy."
"Okay. Bye Hope! Bye Morgan!"
"Bye Lucy!" Morgan and Hope replied.
They watched Jesse and Lucy get into his car and drive off down the road. When they were out of sight, Morgan went bounding inside the house, yelling to everyone that she was going to the Academy Awards.
"Oh my gosh," she said, suddenly, stopping short in front of Avie, who was reading a script for Rocky Road. "What am I going to wear?"
Avie laughed heartily.
"Well, I haven't organised anything yet either."
"What? Really? Why not?"
Avie laughed again.
"Tell you what, we'll go organise something together. Kelsey has a friend who's a fashion designer. She's really good. I was planning on seeing her on Saturday."
"Cool!"
"But maybe you should call your Mom and Dad and let them know... make sure it's okay with them."
"Hmm, good idea."
Avie giggled to herself as Morgan raced for the phone.
