Chapter 85

Isaac and Babsie had a meeting with Natalie and Lori one evening.

"Okay, see, Babsie and I have decided that we would like to take a second Honeymoon," Isaac informed them. "However, that would mean that the kids would be in your care."

"We just wanted to make sure you could handle them, and if not, what you think we should do?" Babsie added.

Natalie and Lori looked at each other.

"Well," Lori said. "I've been trying to find the right time to say this... err... I'd just like to say that I love the system you have going here. I think it's great that you gotten all the kids - bar the very youngest - to do certain simple chores, such as keeping their rooms tidy, and then a roster for all the heavier ones like cleaning the kitchen and the like. But ahh... there are... certain things around this place that none of the kids can do, either for lack of reliability or responsibility, or simply just experience and know-how! Things like stains in the carpet and house hold maintenance."

"We can add answering the door to that list," Natalie smiled. "I mean, you two would know of course, sometimes we just can't get to the door because our hand are full, and the kids aren't supposed to, although I know you've decided to let the teenagers to. But, of course, being teenagers, they like to go out, don't they, and aren't always here!"

"Mmm," Babsie murmured softly. "I suppose you had someone in mind then, Lori?"

Lori gave her an alarmed look and Babsie grinned at her.

"Well? Who is it?"

"Well, ahh, well, not saying that you two don't do your part around here of course... I ahh... my... the guy I'm seeing, well, I guess he's what you might call a Jack-of-all-trades."

"Oh. Is he cute?"

"Babsie!" Natalie exclaimed.

"What?" Babsie asked innocently.

Isaac laughed.

"Your husband's in the room, and you're asking if someone else's boyfriend is cute?"

"Yeah. Why not?" Babsie replied. "I always do that. Besides, Ike know that no one could possibly be cuter than him. It's inconceivable! So, Lori, about this guy..."

"Yes, he's cute," Lori chuckled. "He grew up in a large family too, well, not as large as this one, but he knows all about the problems of growing up in a big family, and so has picked up some tricks with dealing with that. He's great with kids, and general household maintenance, and he would have no problems dealing with, umm, nosy reporters."

"Ahh!" Isaac breathed. "I like that last one. Do you think we could arrange to meet him then? Assuming he's currently unemployed."

"Well, he doesn't have a steady job, but he's picking me up to go out tonight," Lori admitted, blushing slightly. "Perhaps you could arrange a meeting just before we leave?"

"I'd hate to intrude on your evening."

"Oh, it would only be for a couple of minutes. It'll be fine. Besides, you know what us women are like, always taking forever to get ready!"

Isaac smiled.

"Okay, I will arrange a meeting very, very quickly, as long as you're not ready to leave yet. If you have to get going that second, that's fine, I won't keep you. And of course, if we do decide to take him on, we would like to umm, assess him before we leave on our second Honeymoon."

"I understand."
