Chapter 45

Rita looked up as Taylor came through the door.

"How'd it go?"

"Good."

"How'd what go?" Isaac asked.

Taylor stared.

"When did you get here?" he asked.

"Half an hour ago. We're going you for lunch remember?"

"Oh, right."

"So, how'd what go?"

Taylor didn't answer. He just walked out of the room and headed to the backyard. Isaac gave Rita a puzzled look.

"He's a little embarrassed," she said quietly. "You know he's been shot a couple of times in his arm? Well, he's gotten a little arthritis there because of it."

"Oh!"

"But don't tell him I told you!"

"I won't."

"They've developed some new treatment for it in the last couple of years. He needs two more sessions and he shouldn't have any more problems with it."

"Really? That's interesting," then he grinned at her. "Embarrassed about it huh?"

Rita wagged a finger at him.

"I mean it, Isaac Hanson, not a word."

Isaac threw up his hands in mock surrender.

"Speaking of embarrassing Taylor, Zac and I are working on a little song about him."

"Oh?"

"Yeah. We figure there's an embarrassing song about me, and one about Zac, so there should be one about Taylor as well."

Rita laughed.

"Oh, he'll love that. Say, how's that new cook of yours anyway? I haven't had the chance to meet her."

"Lana? Well, as much as I like her, I think things are a little tense between her and the kids," Isaac laughed to himself. "I think some of the older ones have some sort of pool going about the cooks and how soon they leave."

"A pool? What are they betting?"

"Chores, I think. Loser takes all."

Rita giggled.
