The nurse gestured and Isaac hurried in that direction.
"Ahh, Mr Hanson, you're here," greeted the doctor. "This way."
He led him to there room where Babsie was. Isaac peered in the window.
"Can I go in?"
"Sure."
He started towards the door, then bit his lip and looked at the doctor.
"Are the babies..."
"They're alive, but all of them are rather small."
Isaac closed his eyes and digested this, then he went in.
**********
Some time later, Isaac was looking in on his three newborn children. But unlike his other children, he couldn't get excited over the birth of these. In fact, just looking at them made him want to cry. They were so small they were hooked up to various life support machines. Premature.
They were alive though. Isaac couldn't bear the thought that with their lives was Babsie's sanity.
There were two girls and a boy. Cypher Zeke, Audrey Dazzler, and Angel Lillian. Isaac had to smile - Taylor and Zac would be disgusted of course, Cypher and Dazzler being X-men names, and Angel having a variation of one - there being a male X-men named Archangel.
The Four Amigos were coming down for the Australian leg of their tour soon. Isaac knew they were all worried about her. He sighed. This whole situation was getting him down. He had never felt so helpless in his life.
Then to his alarm one of the machines went frantic. A nurse came in quickly, as did a couple of others. Isaac was swiftly pushed out of the room.
"What's wrong?" he asked desperately. "What's wrong?"
No one answered him for some time - all too busy. But at last someone answered his pleas for an answer.
"I'm sorry Mr Hanson," the nurse said quietly, quickly glancing at her clipboard. "Little, ahh, little Angel has died."
Isaac stared at her for a long time as Babsie's psychiatrist Dr Thomas joined them.
"We have to tell her," Dr Thomas said.
"Yes, I know," Isaac replied, chewing his lip. "But... oh man..."
Dr Thomas rested a hand on his shoulder.
"The sooner she knows, the sooner she can recover."
When they did tell Babsie, her hysterical screams continued to ring in Isaac's head hours later.
