Chapter 78

Zac's phone inconsiderately rang sometime during the night.

"Hello?" he yawned.

"Oh sorry Zac, didn't mean to wake you."

"Oh, hi Gaz. Maybe you should pay attention to time zones."

"Yeah, maybe."

"So, what do you want? I wanna get back to sleep."

"Well, you told me to call you as soon as I got the bike in for you."

"You've got it?"

"I've got it."

"Great! I'll pick it up when we come back from tour."

"And umm, when will that be?"

"First week of March."

"March? Dude, that's ages away."

"It's not that long."

"C'mon man, you're my best customer and all, but the bike, she's well… y'know. A lot of people are gonna be asking about her and I…"

"You want dough you money-grubbing scab." Zac said, yawning again. "As I recall, I've already put down a deposit. The rest to be paid on delivery man."

"And it's been delivered."

"To you, not me."

There was silence and Zac yawned again.

"Isn't it important that I haven't negotiated the price? I'm paying exactly what you wanted for it."

Gaz seemed to hesitate.

"Dude, just keep her there until I come back ok? Is that so much to ask?"

"Look, I'm a little low on cash right now…"

"Gaz!" Zac complained, then he paused. "Oh, ok, I see. You woke me up on purpose. You figured I'd be too tired to think straight and give ya anything so I could get some sleep. I know how your mind works you greedy son of a b-"

"Please Zac, is such name calling really necessary?"

"You're just annoyed 'cause it's true. Dude, just shut up, and let me sleep. Or I won't buy anything off you again."

Gaz hung up immediately and Zac went back to sleep with a smile on his face.
