Some of their family friends were throwing a Christmas party during the time they were there.
"Glad to see you're up and about Kel." Isaac said. "How ya holding up?"
Kelsey smiled.
"Hey, I'm like, great. My like, only grudge is that I haven't like, been able to ride my motorbike. And that like, sucks."
"Is that why you pierced yourself?"
Kelsey now had four earrings in each ear, two eyebrow rings, a nose ring, and a belly button ring.
"Ok so I like, got a few more holes in myself. I like, already had two earrings and like, the bellybutton ring." She laughed. "I was like, really bored."
"You don't think you went a little overboard?"
"Overboard? Nah. Overboard would have been if I like, got my tongue pierced like, the same day." She paused. "I like, might do that next week."
"How come I'm not surprised?" Isaac spotted Zac. "Hey look who's under mistletoe."
"Ohh, like, don't tempt me." Kelsey said wistfully.
Not long later…
"Hey Zac, you're like, standing under mistletoe."
Zac looked at Kelsey, then up at the mistletoe. Then he took a step back.
"Not any more." He grinned.
"Cheater." Kelsey replied. "Hey, now I'm like, standing under it, I think you're like, obliged."
"Maybe, maybe not. Isn't it awkward standing around on that crutch?"
"Umm, yeah… kinda. So, guess what I like, might be doing next year?"
"Let's go sit down first."
"I'm like, waiting for my kiss."
Zac grinned and uncomfortably kissed her cheek, then they sat down.
"So? What might you be doing?"
"You know those like, Sphere of Death things? The ones where they like, have the huge ball that like, people on motorbikes like, ride around inside in?"
"Yeah…"
"I might like, get to be one of those people."
"Cool! How's this happen?"
"Well, one of the guys I like, met while out travelling does it. And he like, thinks I'm like, really good, so he like, invited me to join 'em sometime."
"Way cool. Let me know how it works out."
"I will."
