Chapter 71

Just as Zac hung up and got up to rejoin the others, the phone rang again.

"Forget something Amy?" he asked.

"Zac? This isn't Amy."

"Oh…"

"It's Kelsey."

"Oh, hi Kel." He said, sitting back down at the table in the lounge room of their suite. "What do you want?"

"Well, Zac, I like, know you might not like, believe me, but I like, know where Hope is."

"What!" Zac yelped.

Kelsey had to hold the phone away from her ear and everyone stared at him.

"Where? How? Wha-"

"Like, shut up a second and let me like, tell you." Kelsey interrupted. "Ok, you know how I've like, been travelling around lately?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, I've been like, getting into the bikers bars. I know you like, don't want me doing that, but like, I am ok?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where's Hope?"

Zac well and truly had everyone's attention by now.

"Ok, ok, like, there was like, this complete jerk who was like, hanging around me. At first I like, tried blowing him off right?" Kelsey's voice started getting lower. "But like, then I heard him and his friends like, talking about you right? So of course, like, I started hanging around ok. And guess what? I'm at the very spot that they're like, keeping her."

"Oh my gosh… is she ok? Have they hurt her?"

"She's like, fine Zac. Scared, but fine. I've like, tried to like, look after her a bit. Y'know, make sure she like, stays ok."

"Oh man… thank you Kel. Thank you so much. Where are you?"

"Pen and paper?"

"Right here."

Kelsey gave him the address.

"I like, better get off the phone before they like, catch me." She said softly. "Some of the guys are like, just playing poker in like, the next ro-"

Zac heard a bang.

"Kelsey? Kelsey?" he cried into the phone.

He heard Kelsey cry out and there was another bang.

"Kelsey!"

Then all he heard was a click. Someone had hung up the phone. Zac stared at the phone in shock.

"Zac? What's going on?" Isaac asked.

Silently, Zac handed over the paper with the address Kelsey had given him.

"Kelsey found Hope." He said quietly. "And now… now… now she might be dead."
