"Zac? Zac Hanson?"
Zac looked up.
"You're Amy Winton huh?"
Amy smiled.
"Yes." she replied, sitting down. "Umm, I guess you wanted to know why I wanted to talk to you?"
"Does it have anything to do with a certain question someone asked me about you?"
Amy blushed slightly.
"I just said something about liking you guys and now someone's gone and misinterpreted it."
"Well, that happens." Zac smiled. "So what do you want?"
"Well… I guess you could say it's kinda related to that thing… see, umm… ok I'll be frank -"
"I'd prefer it if you were Amy."
Amy giggled.
"Umm, ok, I'll be Amy then. Well, you see… I want publicity."
"Ahh, my sister-in-law was right. You're a publicity seeker."
"And I think I'm doing a pretty good job too. Fact is, - and please don't take offence - I'm more interested in movies than music as a career."
"What's this got to do with me?"
"Well, umm… I was kinda wondering if you'd go out with me. You know, be my boyfriend?"
Zac stared at her for a moment and wrinkled his brow.
"I really don't go in for that sort of publicity Amy."
"Yeah… I know. I just thought I'd ask. If you don't ask, it won't happen at all. At least asking gives me a little chance you'd say yes." She gave him a joking meek look and battered her eyes.
Zac smiled, leaned back in his chair and scratched his nose. He thought for a moment.
"How old are you?" he asked suddenly.
"Twenty-two. Why?"
"Just wondering. I just realised I didn't remember." He paused. "Ok."
Amy looked a little startled.
"What?"
"Ok, I'll go out with you."
Amy stared at him, blinking her eyes.
"You really didn't expect me to say yes did ya?"
"No." Amy answered, shaking her head.
"Well, let me be frank - no, I'll be Zac." He grinned at his own joke. "I have a bet to settle back home, and I want to get my brothers off my back about dating again. So, I guess, even if there is nothing romantic involved, dating each other will be beneficial for the both of us."
"Oh." Amy sounded rather happy with that. "Cool. Umm, you, umm… you do realise that we'll have to start acting like a couple in public."
"Oh sure. In fact, lets just keep that we're not, umm, not romantically interested at all in each other between ourselves."
"Of course. It'll be just like pulling a prank on the whole world."
Zac's eyes lit up.
"Yeah, and how fun would that be?"
