Zac sighed.
"Peta, you just wouldn't understand."
"Try me."
"No."
He hung up the phone. Two seconds later, it rang again.
"I don't want to talk to you Peta." Zac said.
"I figured that when you hung up on me."
"Then leave me alone."
"Damn it Zac! I want to know what on earth happened between you and Kel."
"Nothing is going on."
"That's not good enough. What damn well happened last night?"
Zac sighed.
"She kissed me Peta."
Peta paused, a little confused.
"So?"
"On the lips. And, and I, I kissed her back."
"Big deal."
"Big deal? Of course it's a big deal Peta! I don't want... it's just that..."
"It's about Cassie isn't it? Zac, she's dead -"
"Don't say that."
"She dead Zac! Deal with it! Get over it! None of your stupid -"
Zac hung up on her again. Tears started welling in his eyes and the phone started ringing again, as he well expected.
Ignoring it, Zac got up and wiped the tears from his eyes. He ran up to Hope's bedroom, where she was happily playing barbies with her cousins.
"Hi daddy!" she said.
Hope stood up and walked over to him as he knelt down and gave her a hug.
"What's wrong?" Hope asked.
"Ahh, don't worry sweetie." Zac replied.
"K. Wanna play barbies with us?"
Zac smiled.
"Maybe some other time. I have to go find your uncles so we can practice."
"K." Hope replied, and toddled back over to the game.
