The doorbell rang around then and Rocky looked over at the door.
"It's Rachel." He said.
"I know." Taylor replied. "I wonder what she's so upset about."
Taylor got up and walked over to the door, letting her in.
"Hey Rach, what's up?"
Rachel stared at him for a moment, then pulled down the collar of her shirt. Taylor gaped.
"C'mon in. How the heck did that happen?"
Rachel couldn't answer. Taylor took her wrist and led her into the dining room. They couldn't help but see what Taylor had seen: four distinct scratch marks, bleeding. Jess immediately jumped up and put her hand over them to heal her.
When Jess pulled her hand away, thinly coated in blood, Rachel sat down, still in shock.
"Rach?" Diana asked. "Rach what happened?"
Rachel moved her head to meet her eyes.
"It was Dan." She squeaked out.
"Dan?" Isaac repeated.
"I... I... I was telling him off for leaving the fridge door open and he... he..." Rachel suddenly burst into tears. "He hit me and..."
Rachel touched her neck and pulled it away, blood on her hand too.
"No human can make scratches like that." Jess commented. "They were too deep."
Trinity bit her lip and glanced at Rocky. Oscar had since gone to sleep.
"Dan is... Dan is... Dan is one of the people Zella has tried to keep an eye on." Trinity said at last. "She, well, all of us, keeps an eye out for anyone who might be an emerging mutant."
"Dan's a mutant?" Rachel asked.
She had been previously informed about the mutants and introduced to Oscar, Trinity and Rocky.
"This incident may be proof. But Zella would know more."
"So that's why Z's been pretending to be a teenage girl." Zac smirked. "I knew there had to be some reason but she wouldn't tell me."
"Ahh, so you know her codename."
"Yes."
"Hmph. Z is a very closed mouth person."
"I noticed. But what about Dan?"
