He flew over and kicked Gretels' tongue, only to get his foot stuck. Zella rolled her eyes at his cries for help, put her hand around him and pulled him off.
"Oh! My foot! My foot!" Ripples wailed.
For, in the process, Ripples foot got ripped off - it was still stuck to Gretels' tongue.
"It was your own fault." Zella informed him, walking away. "C'mon Zac."
"You hurt my Rippy!" Twinkles accused Zella.
"Look, just wrap it up in a bandage ok?" Zella replied, then she turned to Zac. "I've left a car over there. C'mon, I'm gonna get you back to your folks."
"Don't worry Ripples." Zac said. "My sister has Healing. I'm sure she can fix your foot."
"She can heal people other than herself?" Twinkles asked, surprised.
"Yeah, can't all people with Healing?" then Zac thought over what he just said. "Ok, I think I've met more anomalies in the last few days than I ever expected to in one hit."
"Anomalies? Oh, that's what you call us mutants. I was forgetting." Zella replied.
"Forgetting? How'd you know?"
"There'll be time for chit chat later. Look, there's the car."
"Where's the driver?"
"You're looking at her."
"You? How can you drive? And thinking about that, how'd you know where I was?" then Zac stared. "What the heck - you're a shape shifter?"
For right before his eyes Zella had turned into an older woman. Still young, but old enough to look like she was actually old enough to have a drivers license.
"Get in the car." Zella replied, getting into the driver's seat.
Zac got in, then gave her a hard look as she started up the engine.
"How do I know I can trust you? I mean, I know you saved, umm, Twinkles from Gretel, and all, but y'know... I was always told never to accept rides from strangers."
Zella gave him a look.
"I have a mobile phone in my bag. Call your home and tell them you're ok and on your way home. Ask them about me, they'll know I'm legit."
Zac opened up the bag and pulled out the phone. He rang his phone number.
"Hello?"
"Dad?" Zac asked.
"Zac?"
"Yeah it's me!"
"Zac! Where are you? How are you? What happened? Just a sec, I'm putting you on speaker."
"Ok." Zac waited a moment.
