"Well, our last idea was that it was Level 1 because Avie could control how fast she went." Taylor answered. "But now I'm not so sure."
"Why's that?"
"Well, I was thinking the other day -"
"Did it hurt?" Zac asked.
"No it didn't Zac. Anyway, I was thinking the other day that we are all… we all have limits to our speed and our strength and we can all choose not to, umm, go to our full capacity, if you know what I mean."
"I know what you mean." Isaac replied. "Interesting thought."
"So, what are you saying? That the Strength and Speed powers are Level 2?" Blake asked.
"You make it sound like an insult." Taylor frowned.
"Sorry."
"Well, how do we define Level 1 and Level 2 powers?" Isaac asked.
"Ability to control?" Zac suggested. "Level 1 powers can be controlled, Level 2 powers can't."
"But like Tay said," Jess cut in, "any normal person can control how fast they move or how much they pick up within a certain limit."
"Yeah, you can't control the limit, just within it." Taylor enforced.
"Well, that can be applied to a lot of stuff." Zac pointed out. "I have a limit as to what I can restore."
"But some limits can be breached too." Isaac said. "Like our telepathic ranges. First I was limited to a certain distance, but with practice I'm now limited to a much bigger distance, and in time I'll be limited to an even bigger distance."
"Whoa." Blake said, shaking his head. "I can see this powers thing is gonna take some getting used to."
"You have no idea." Zac said. "Ikey-poos here keeps shape shifting into made-up people and going out on dates that way."
Isaac gave a wry smile.
"Say…" he said. "There is another way of defining Level 1 and Level 2 powers. Ok, ok, see, when I shape shift, I have conscious control of what I'm doing, like, I can't shape shift unconscious or subconsciously. It will only work consciously. But Taylor's attraction power works subconsciously. He can't turn it on or off."
"Good point." Taylor said.
"So, you're saying," Blake said, "that unless me and Avie can turn our Strength and Speed powers off and on, or whatever, then they must be Level 2 powers."
"Just a thought." Isaac nodded.
"Yeah, well, I think that we might change our minds and say that they're Level 2 now, but sometime in the future it's entirely possible we might change our definitions again and call them Level 1's again." Jess commented.
"Say, what's that noise?" Zac asked. "Blake?"
Blake focused and switched from normal to x-ray vision. He looked outside the elevator.
"Ah ha." He said. "The engineers have arrived. Maybe now we'll get out of this thing."
