"Tell me!" she shouted.
"Tell you what?" Taylor asked, confused. "And why are you speaking Rakurrian?"
And for that matter, why was he speaking Rakurrian?
"Oh, is that what this language is called?"
"Yeah," Taylor replied in English. "Hey, Zac, would you mind getting your girlfriend off me?"
"She's not my -" Zac began.
"Taylor!" Isaac gasped.
"What?" Taylor asked. "Oh, I'm sorry, were you guys just dealing with the other guy who was in my body?"
Jo got up and helped Taylor up.
"Yes we were," she replied. "You okay?"
"Yeah."
"What exactly happened to you? He said something about your mind being processed."
Taylor winced, brushing the dirt off his clothes.
"My mind was abducted by space pirates," he answered seriously. "They steal strong telepathic capable minds to use as weapons against the Narrieta. The Narrieta are this alien race that's been kidnapping people off Earth for years and experimenting and stuff on them. Well, the... the Triggered (I never met any humans up there, and I don't think they knew what a mutant was) rebelled and stuff, and they still war against them, but these space pirates believe anything and everything should be used against them."
Taylor shrugged.
"It's all very... amazing up there. Anyway, suffice to say they found the pirates and how to send me back here. That pirate who was in my body is gone now. Been arrested, I suppose."
He looked around.
"So, umm, what the heck has been going on?"
"There was a storm," Isaac told him. "We only just met up with Zac and Mary Anne again now. He's been to an underwater city and an island that's a base for level 2 anomalies. We've been to an island for plant powered mutants only - oh and insect people. Heh. And now we're here on Midpoint Island - it's a mutant community."
"I see... I guess we all have some tales to tell each other."
"Yes we do," Zac agreed.
A few hours later the rescuers arrived. Hunter offered Jo the chance to join their order, but she respectfully declined.
"Well, the offer is always open."
"I appreciate that."
Carla's plan worked and no one who wasn't supposed to learn about the mutants found out.
