She was an anomaly who had already been triggered. Imagine how many others there might be out there? Just waiting to be discovered.
Just waiting to find more of their, uhh, kind.
He found himself, as he talked to the fans, wondering if this one that he was shaking hands with was one. Or maybe the girl who'd just taken the photo, or the one he'd just been in the photo with.
How many others were there?
And that also got him to thinking about how many untriggered anomalies there might be.
Maybe there was one in this room.
Maybe it was the one he was talking to now.
Maybe one of their own roadies was an anomaly.
Maybe…
On the other hand, maybe not.
**********
It sniffed.
This creature was nothing like it had seen before. Or smelled for that matter. The creature had a scent similar to that of the tall creatures that walked on two legs. Had it have encountered frogs before, it would have said that it smelled like a cross between the two.
The creature was very short and wore a cloak and hood. Unknowing what to do, it froze as it would when it encountered one of the creatures with the glowing eyes.
But this creature, this creature was different.
"Well, well." The creature said, picking it up. "What do we have here?"
Somehow this creature knew it was in disguise! But how could this be? It was a wonderful disguise, well, except when one of the creatures with the glowing eyes showed up. No one ever guessed before.
The two creatures smelled each other.
"Hmm, so little fellow, what am I gonna do with you?" the creature continued.
It did not like the way it was being treated by this creature. It squirmed, trying to get out of it's grasp. Then it spotted something, a container full of water. If it could only… if that would only tip over… then it could… it might be able to escape.
Strangely, just as it was thinking this, the water did spill, splattering them both. It ran, not bothering to question it's good fortune.
As it ran, it started working on a new disguise. Maybe this one would hide it better.
The creature looked around for it for a few moments. Not seeing it anywhere, the creature continued on it's way.
