But now, the concert was over. The day was over. They were in the tour buses, heading of to the next city and Taylor was lying in his bunk. Just thinking.
Walker and Diana had agreed to let Rachel go home, but she would be staying with them for the next couple of days while they arranged thing.
And still Taylor couldn't sleep. Rachel's voice seemed to echo in his head:
"Why do I love you?"
It was not the first time that Taylor wanted to rip his Attraction power out. More of a curse than a blessing, he believed. At least, if he had to have it, he would rather that he had never known it.
He loved Rachel. He knew that. And Rachel loved him - or did she?
It was probably a valid question. If, if, if everything between them were over (a thought Taylor couldn't bear to think) would he doubt the feelings of every other girl towards him? Was he now doomed to wonder if any other girlfriend he had only liked him because of this power?
And though the phrasing of the question scared him, for it sounded like something out of a trashy romance novel (or maybe something Isaac would mope about whenever a girl turned him down after asking her to be his girlfriend), would he never find love? Real love? Something that wasn't… artificial as Rachel had put it?
Taylor felt a tear run down. Damn it all! He didn't want to meet anyone else. He loved Rachel. And he couldn't stand the idea that, that she might… that she might leave his life…
He couldn't stop the tears from coming then. And he cried himself to sleep on a rather wet pillow.
**********
A day or so later, Rachel was at the airport, preparing to leave. She had said most of her goodbyes before arriving, but Taylor insisted on coming.
"Please don't go." He said, taking her hand.
"Taylor, I -"
"Please Rach, don't go." He begged. "I don't want you to go."
"I, I know. But I have to. I'm sorry."
"You don't have to Rach. Please don't. I love you."
Rachel put her hand on his face.
"I know you do." She said. "But I don't know if I love you."
Before Taylor could say other word, she hurried towards the plane. At least one of his powers was useful now:
*I love you Rachel! Please, don't go!* he cried. *You're tearing me up inside. I love you! I love you!*
Rachel heard his incessant cries as she sat on her seat in the plane, and she felt tears starting to run down her cheeks again.
*I'm sorry Tay.* she sobbed. *Please, give me some time.*
*I love you Rach.*
And then they were out of range.
