He took in everything. He was walking passed the big cats habitats when Steve came running past wrestling a huge snake. Nate stared as this strange sight smacked into one of the walls and proceeded to fall into the habitat with the tigers.
He walked cautiously to the edge and peered in. Then he felt two hands behind him, pushing him. He toppled over and fell in himself.
Nate shook his head after the fall and looked up to see Rachel giggling madly.
*Have fun!* she said before walking off.
He turned around. Steve and the snake had disappeared from sight, but the tigers had not.
And they were eyeing him.
**********
Isaac had wandered towards the monkey habitats. He was well in the middle of them when he heard chimp noises. He turned towards them.
*Ah ha! Teenage Mutant Ninja Monkeys.*
The four half monkey, half human creatures wielded ninja weapons and wore either blue, purple, red or orange. They eyed him and ‘ooh’ed and ‘eep’ed threateningly.
*Lucky for me, I have just the thing,* Isaac said, whipping something out of his pocket. *Pizza vouchers!*
They went from menacing to wary curiosity.
*They’re for the pizza shop just on that corner. They have all types of pizza. Including banana pizza.*
That was all the TMNM needed to hear. They scampered off to the pizza shop, ‘eep’ing excitedly.
*Hey no fair bribing the troops!* Rachel objected.
*All’s fair in love and war.*
Rachel was about to reply when she smelt something.
*Do you smell smoke?*
*Yeah. Where’s it -*
But he didn’t need to finish the question. The fire was everywhere! The trees in the habitats were alight. The buildings were burning. Somehow in the chaos, Isaac, Taylor, Nate, Rachel and Carla met up.
Carla was sitting quite calmly in one of the water habitats. In fact, it seemed that all the water habitats were here, as well as all the fire extinguishers. And a high security fence guarded it all.
*I’ve been waiting for you Rach,* she said.
Carla grabbed Rachel’s wrist and pulled her behind the wall. The boys tried to follow, but to no avail.
*Carla!* Nate complained.
*Hey, you brought it on yourselves,* Carla said. *Everyone knows that CFCs are bad for the environment, and what does Taylor do? Snake repellant has a lot of CFCs in it you know. You just made a hole in the ozone layer, and now look what’s happening! The water’s drying up. We’re suffering global warming here.*
*I told you she was a smart alec,* Nate groaned.
*But, but, I always check the can!* Taylor objected. *It did not say it had CFCs on it!*
*Then you need glasses. It said so on the bottom of the can in microscopic print,* Carla grinned. *Rach, I think this one’s in the bag.*
*I don’t,* Isaac said. *We’ve only just begun to fight.*
He pointed. There, in the sky, were helicopters dumping sand on the fire. However, it did not go exactly as Isaac had planned. Eventually so much sand had been dumped, (and what with global warming and all) the zoo had turned into a desert. And Carla and Rachel were well defended behind a wall surrounding the only oasis.
*Great,* Taylor muttered. *She’s trying to make us die of thirst.*
*The game isn’t over yet,* Isaac declared.
*I never said it was.*
