Chapter 4

*So Tay, is it safe?*

Taylor opened up his empathic-block so it covered more area than it was now.

*No, there's someone headed right towards us.*

*Man, this sucks.*

*Umm, Ike?*

*Yeah?*

*Please tell me there's a car alarm installed.*

*Car alarm - he's a car thief?*

*Oh yeah, and he's after you.*

Just as Taylor was saying this, the guy he was referring to started trying to open up the drivers' door.

*Jerk* Isaac muttered, making his 'car alarm' go off. *Can't you use one of your fancy little probes to dissuade him?*

*I can only read thoughts. Not change them.*

*Can you make him scared so he runs off?* Isaac asked after the car alarm didn't appear to be working.

*Only if someone else is scared around here. And I can't feel any fear anywhere.* Taylor replied in frustration.

*So, what do we do? Stay here until he get's bored?*

*I don't think that's going to happen Ike. Believe me.*

There was silence between them for a moment.

*Ok, ok, I have an idea. I've never done this before, but...*

Isaac sent out a 'string' of shape shifter liquid to behind a car a few parking spots away. Because Isaac couldn't divide himself, the string had to stay attached to him, of course, but he utilised his shape shifting abilities so it looked like the surface of the road instead.

*What are you doing?*

*Go send a probe and watch.* Isaac replied gleefully.

The other end of the string started growing upwards. Taylor watched as the growing blob started turning into... a human? Yes, Isaac was creating some weird person. Muscular, large, the type of human shape that would definitely be intimidating if you came across it in a dark alley.

Pity this wasn't a dark alley.

As Taylor watched he saw the character receiving the whole tough-guy look. Once the character was formed, Isaac moved it... well, no, that's the wrong way to put it, considering the character was Isaac!

Isaac walked over to himself and the car thief.

"Get away from my car!" He bellowed, stunning the thief.

The thief took one look at Isaac's face (which wasn't really Isaac's face, only it was at the moment) and pelted out of the car park as fast as his legs could carry him. He and Taylor laughed.

*Is the coast clear?* Isaac asked, still laughing.

*Crystal.* Taylor answered.

And on that, Isaac went back to normal and the two headed back up to their hotel room.
