Chapter 6

"Hey aren't you two famous ice skaters?" Jess asked the moment she laid eyes on the pair.

"Well, ahh, I don't know about famous," Frank replied with a tolerant smile. "But we have been in a few championships and stuff."

"This is so cool!"

"I'm Diana," Diana cut in, holding out her hand.

"I'm Frank and this is Lydia.*

"These are the telepaths I mentioned to you, Zac," Taylor said.

"Telepaths?" Jess repeated. "Are you mutants?"

"Can we keep it down?" Frank grumbled.

"Don't mind him, he's a dork," Lydia interjected.

"Really?" Isaac asked in interest. "Well, this is your lucky day Frank, you get to meet your leader, the King of dorks, Zac."

"Yeah, well, at least I don't get my nose picked on a regular basis by a pet arm named Cuddles."

"At least I didn't kiss Z."

"At least I don't write songs about being bored."

"At least I don't have to electrocute myself in the shower in order to get all the sweat and dirt from the day off."

"At least I can."

"At least Taylor doesn't call me a stud muffin when I get a girl's phone number."

"Hey don't bring me into this," Taylor objected. "And I was only joking."

"What? So you're saying I'm not a stud muffin?"

"No, you're a dork," Isaac put in helpfully.

"You three are beginning to worry me," Lydia commented.

"Just beginning?" Zac asked. "Guys, we have to try harder."

"Don't mind them, they had too much sugar for breakfast this morning," Jess put in.

"Say, are you guys doing anything today?" Frank asked.

"A signing in half an hour," Walker replied.

"Other than that?"

"Nothing. We were planning on having an early night before we leave tomorrow," Taylor answered.

"Ok, because there's a tournament on tonight. A mutant one. It'll be great."

"Don't listen to him. It's just this thing where they fight each other using powers," Lydia interjected. "I don't understand how anyone can like that."

"Well, I don't know," Taylor said thoughtfully. "We have these mind battles right? Where we basically have these fights with each other telepathically. Lots of fun."

"I always win," Isaac added with a grin.

"Bragger," Zac accused.

"Ahh, you're just jealous because you're not telepathic too."

"Shut up."

"Look," Frank said writing something down on a napkin, "this is the place. If ya wanna come, come. If you don't, your loss. And if you come, maybe you'd like to join in?"

"They won't be fighting if they do go," Diana put in firmly.

There was some more talking where the two parties got to know each other a bit better, then Frank and Lydia went back to the ice and the Hansons left for the signing.
