Chapter 2

Some weeks later, Amarita and her father were in Tulsa. Amarita had fallen asleep in the car on the way there, so she didn't notice that they had arrived until he shook her gently awake.

"We're here honey." He told her.

She yawned and stretched, then opened the door, got out and stretched some more. For a moment she just stood there sleepily, then started following him towards the door.

"Have you got your sleeping bag? Good. We're just gonna crash in here for a few hours. The first of the vans won't be here until morning."

**********

Amarita woke up to the sound of one of those very vans. She groaned.

"That's the last time I sleep on the floor." She muttered, waking up her father as someone knocked on the door.

While he spoke to the movers, Amarita went upstairs to check out the rooms. It was a four-bedroom house, and since her dad was obviously getting the master bedroom, that gave her three to choose from.

"Ooh, I like this one. Not only is it the biggest, but there's a pool next door. That'll mean a great view if any cute guys live there." She giggled.

"Ahh, so you like this room huh?" Dad asked, walking in.

"Yep."

"Good." He opened his wallet and handed her a few notes. "There's a coffee shop down the street. Why don't you go pick up some breakfast for yourself."

"What about you?"

"I'll have something later."

"Ok."

Before she went out, she of course, got changed, then she went outside and started wandering down the street. People were just beginning to get up it seemed.

"Imagine if I bumped into the Hansons." She giggled. "Nah, they're still on tour. Won't be back for another month at least."

Amarita sighed.

"Oh well, could be worse I suppose. Could be two months."

On that, she walked into the coffee shop and settled down for breakfast.

**********

Sometime later, she returned to see Dad talking to some woman.

"Ama!" he called. "I'd like to introduce you to our new neighbour. This is Sandra. Sandra, this is my daughter Amarita."

"Just Sandy will be fine Joe." The lady replied. "Nice to meet you Amarita."

"Hi." Amarita replied. "You can call me Ama, everyone else does."

"So, maybe you'd like to come over while the movers are around." Sandy offered. "I have a son around your age."

Amarita giggled.

"Sure."
