What they do know about their powers is that they are caused by a relatively rare, anomalous gene. Someone with this gene can be either a Level 1, 2, or 3 anomaly. Level 3 anomalies can go through their entire lives and never be affected by the gene.
Level 2 anomalies can subconsciously use their powers throughout their lives. They have no control over this power at all. However, it is possible for a Level 2 to become a Level 1.
Level 1 anomalies know they have their powers and so can control them.
Since the triggering of their own powers, they have also triggered the powers of their siblings, Taylor's girlfriend Rachel, and two brothers from Boston named James and Blake.
Taylor has recently discovered he can monitor telepathic activity and listen in to telepathic conversations with his Deep Telepathy.
When Zac grows stronger in his Water affinity, he will be able to turn himself into water at will.
James is a Level 1. He is blind. His known powers are:
Sonar - allows him to release a series of 'clicks' enabling him to 'see' things around him.
Enhance - allows him to enhance the powers of others
Good luck - this is a theoretical power, and would be Level 2
Blake is a Level 1, but he does have a Level 2 power. His known powers are:
X-ray vision - allows him to see through things
(affinity with) Technology - allows him to manipulate technology
Strength - this Level 2 power gives him extraordinary strength
