Chapter 5

Rachel sighed and Taylor held her hand.

"Ahh, don't worry, you'll be back in a couple of days." He said.

"Yeah, I know, it's just, I can't stand them."

Taylor grinned.

"I'm sure everything will be fine."

"That's easy for you to say. You aren't going to have to share a room with my cousin Fran. I swear, she's is gonna drive me completely insane."

"Rach?" her dad called. "Can you get in the car please? We're leaving."

"Ok." Rachel turned to Taylor. "I guess I'll see you when we get back huh?"

"Yep."

Taylor leant over, kissed her briefly (well, her parents were watching…) and gave her a hug. Then Rachel reluctantly pulled away and got in the car. Taylor waved as they pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street and out of sight.

Suddenly, he caught his breath. It was odd - he could hear random thoughts in his head again. But these were… these were, well, considering there was no one on the street, they obviously came from a much wider area around him… say, the people in the houses.

And then, just as suddenly as they came, they stopped. Taylor shook his head, wondering what the heck was happening to him.

Meanwhilst, Jess and Avie had not given up their quest to find out how the guys did their magic tricks. They had taken to the old private eye tradition: spying.

Zac was pounding on the drums in the garage, while Isaac was surfing the internet on his computer. Avie was watching Isaac, and Jess was watching Zac. They were both a little bored. But hey, they had to find something to blackmail them with!

A little later the girls met up again.

"Anything?" Avie asked.

"Just a headache." Jess replied.

They were quiet for a moment.

"Taylor's not home…" Jess commented. "And they're not in their room…"

Their eyes lit up and they bounded up the stairs.

"Right." Jess said when they entered the room. "Room belonging to three teenage guys. Very, very smelly."

Avie giggled.

They were searching the room for about ten minutes (hadn't found anything) when they heard voices coming down the hall. They looked at each other in a panic and quickly jumped in the only hiding spot they could find. The wardrobe.

Jess coughed.

"Wardrobe belonging to three teenage guys. Very, very, very smelly."

Avie stifled her giggles this time for that's when the guys re-entered their room.
